The Lisbon boys track team won another Tri-Rivers title on Thursday, May 8, in Alburnett. But for the first time during the recent run of state-championship seasons (2023, 2024) there was a tiny bit of doubt. The Lions scored 131 points to top the host school, Alburnett, by eight points. A disqualification in the 4x200 may have hurt the Lions from posting a larger overall margin of victory. Lisbon still won the 4x100 and sprint medley relays with Quinn Coleman, Dakota Clark, and Chase McFarlane. Daylin Schaefer ran the 400 leg of the sprint medley, and Tiernan Boots completed the 4x100 relay, which finished in 43.89 seconds. Gage Holub was the only Lion to win an individual race, crossing the tape in the 100 hurdles in 14.69 seconds. Girls The Lion girls finished sixth with 57 team points. Maquoketa Valley won the title with 146 team points, followed by Edgewood-Colesburg (99) and North Linn (82). Lisbon didn’t win any events. Their top finish was a second-place in the 4x100 with Brynn Epperly, Quinn Roos, Addie Clark, and Brynnley Patterson finishing in 52.08 seconds. That set a season best. “We got our relays pretty well set for districts,” Lisbon coach Brett Epperly said. “We need to finish getting ourselves healthy.” Individually, Emersyn Reiter was second in the high jump, and Brynn Epperly was third in the long jump and fourth in the 100 hurdles. Patterson was third in the 100. Maleeah Adams set a personal best in the 1,500, clocking in at 5 minutes, 59.85 seconds and placing seventh.
