Further, Dawson Scheil’s accomplishments at state were overlooked in the write-up. Scheil broke the 800 meter record, the 1,600 meter record and was a member of the distance medley relay squad who broke the school record and passed track legend Quentin Nauman in that race.

Competing at state for the Mount Vernon boys’ were: Benjamin Brinkmann (800), Dawson Scheil (800 and 1,600), Chasen Caskey (1,600) Leo Tharp (3,200), 4×800 (Caskey, Brinkmann, Logan Ericson, Scheil), distance medley (Toby Neal, Logan Stanerson, Holden Hlavacek, Scheil) and sprint medley relay ( Neal, Teddy Bonewald, Stanerson, Hlavacek).
