The wall along Second Avenue will be one portion of the parking lot impacted by improvements at Mount Vernon Bank and Trust beginning this fall. The project will impact access to the bank drive through for a couple of weeks when the parking lot is replaced with concrete.

Clare Nydegger sits atop the dunk tank after falling in. The Mount Vernon marching band used this carnival game as a fundraiser. They were at the festival from noon-6pm on Saturday and charged $1 a throw or $5 for six throws.

A kid exits the bouncy house as a line awaits their turn to enter the bouncing fun.

Kids await their turn to race through the obstacle course bouncy house. This was one of four inflatables for kids to play on.

People order food from one of the many food trucks on Friday night. There were many venders selling food and drinks throughout the festival.

Novato Estrada hits the ball during nine-square. The game was one of the premier attractions on the grass as it went on during most of the festival on Friday night.

This was the first year of a drone show at Heritage Days. The drones replaced the firework show from past years. The drones created many shapes and scenes during the show, including solving a Rubix cube, Pac-Man eating Pac-dots, ET flying in front of the moon, and even mimicked fireworks to end the show.

Dance Arts Iowa dance group performed on Main Street on Saturday, during the festival. The group was made up of a range of elementary school-aged kids and four coaches. They battled through technical difficulties during the beginning of the show, with the sound system not working. They audibled to using a bluetooth speaker and the dancing went on.

People compete in the beanbag toss tournament at Heritage Days. The tournament was run by the Mount Vernon high school wrestling team.

- Keenan Kamerling throws a bag during a game of bags. Kamerling is a former Mount Vernon wrestler and football player. Kamerling said, “[Heritage Days] is awesome. I come back every year for the bags tournament to support wrestling and it’s just a great time.”
