The Lisbon girls’ golf team battle the course and nine other teams over two days — Thursday and Friday, May 28 and 29 — at the Class 3A State Meet.
The Lions, at state for the second-straight year, finished seventh with a two-day total of 684. Dubuque Wahlert won the 3A title at 622.
“I think they were all satisfied,” Lisbon Coach Andy Kahl said. “I think they felt it was a really good accomplishment to get to state. We were seeded seventh, and that’s what we finished.”
It is hard to be mad playing up to your ability.
“We all hit our averages,” Kahl said. “No one played excellent, but no one played terrible. And that was reflected in our scores.”
Morgan Sauser led the Lions with a 165 card over 36 holes to finish 20th in 3A. Kyla Kahl (171), Carie Johnson (173), Abby Bock (175) rounded out the scoring. Avery Thurn (182) and Torie Johnson (214) also competed.
The good news is Bock is the only senior.
“It is hard to look forward right now,” Kahl said. “They want to enjoy the accomplishment of making state.”
