New night. New location. Same fun end of year party.
Washington Elementary Teachers and Parents hosted their end of year party Thursday, May 28.
Paige Eby, president of WETAP said the decision was made to coincide with the end of the school year and make it a party with something to celebrate.
This year, the decision was also made to move the event to Washington Elementary Schools playground.
“It just feels like a much safer, more contained area,” Eby said, noting that events held in the past at the elementary track or last year at the front of the elementary building had to contend with the traffic the event draws.
Items like inflatables and the popular foam cannon returned for another year.
Eby said one of the things that the group loved as well as that many of the vendors represented at the event were either local or had local people who worked for them, like Sugar Daddy Cookies, Bass Farms Ice Cream, Taylor Concessions and That’s So Cheesy.
Moving to the playground also meant that playground equipment was also used by many attendees.
Eby said that the group is looking to make this fall’s Washington Elementary Walk a bigger fundraiser as well, as that helps them plan events throughout the year.
