Lisbon girls’ golf won the Tri-Rivers East title Monday, May 11, at 3-30 Golf & Country Club in Lowden, then shot even lower and finished third at the Dubuque Senior Rams Invitational on Thursday, May 14 at Bunker Hill Golf Course in Dubuque.
The Lions won the Tri-Rivers East with a 343 score, 29 ahead of Easton Valley. Five Lion golfers finished in the Top 8, led by medalist Morgan Sauser (80). Carie Johnson finished third (84), Abby Bock was fifth (88), Kyla Kahl was seventh (91) and Avery Thurn was eighth (91).
“Obviously a great day,” Lisbon Coach Andy Kahl said. “We placed our top five in the Top 10. We showed we have depth.”
Kahl praised Sauser for winning the conference individual title in her “rookie” season, and Johnson, who had “probably her most complete round of the season.”
Lisbon battled 4A schools Thursday, shooting a 330. Kahl led with a 77 in fifth place.
“We were undefeated going into that meet,” Kahl said. “PV is No. 1 in 4A, and Wahlert is No. 1 in 3A. So it was a measuring stick. We had a respectable finish and beat a lot of 4A schools.”
Lisbon started the postseason at a Class 3A Regional on Wednesday, May 20, in Oskaloosa.
