One of the best Chalk the Walk weekends, weather wise, in years.
“The weather has just been beautiful this weekend,” said Sue Coleman, member of the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council.
Crowds in the uptown kept businesses and restaurants extremely busy during the two day weekend, with the Kentucky Derby
And artwork adorned the streets throughout uptown Mount Vernon, with winners announced Sunday afternoon.
The first-place winner of this year’s event was Melissa Griggs, Mariah and Samantha Burds bubble blowing piece.
Popular themes in this year’s artwork tied into the 250th anniversary theme for the United States of America, with Rebecca Ravera’s tribute to the recent Artemis space mission return to the moon.
While temperatures remained beautiful throughout the weekend, the wind played some minor havoc throughout the event.
There was one accident at the event Sunday afternoon, with Lisbon-Mount Vernon Ambulance Service responding to uptown.
