The Lisbon girls’ golf enjoyed some warm days and started shooting some pretty low scores, winning two duals and an invitational last week.
“It was a busy week, and we made the most of it,” Lisbon Coach Andy Kahl said.
The Lions beat Midland 172 to 270 on Monday, April 20, at Kernoustie, then beat Maquoketa Valley 169 to 203 on Tuesday, April 21, at Hart Ridge Golf Course.
Then they won the Maquoketa Invitational on Wednesday, April 22, at Maquoketa Country Club.
The Lions beat a seven-team field with 344 strokes, 37 ahead of second-place Easton Valley. Kyla Kahl won medalist honors with an 83, and was followed by Morgan Sauser (85), Carie Johnson (88) and Abby Bock (88).
Bock and Avery Thurn, the No. 4 and 5 golfers, were co-medalists with a 41 against Midland.
“To get scoring like that from your four and five is huge,” Kahl said. “That translates in our team score.”
The Lions broke 170 against the Wildcats.
“This early in the season, that’s tremendous,” Kahl said. “And it shows the depth of our team.”
