The Lisbon girls’ track team took a big step forward last week, finishing fourth at the Lady Wildcat Meet on Monday, April 20, in Maquoketa, and runner-up at the Washington Invitational on Thursday, April 23.
“I was ecstatic with how we did last week,” Lisbon coach Brett Epperly said. “Everyone is setting PRs up and down the roster.”
The Lion sprinters really took a big step. At Washington they won the sprint medley and 4×100. That includes Jordyn Jarchow, Paige Epperly, Quinn Roos and Brynnley Patterson in both.
“There were a lot of big schools there, and we hung right with them,” Coach Epperly said.
Freshman thrower Cooper Martin won the discus (109-3) and was third in the shot put (36-2.5) in Maquoketa.
“Those are big numbers for a freshman,” Epperly said.
Epperly was also impressed by the Lion distance runners, even if they didn’t plae high. “They keep dropping their times,” Epperly said. “The kids have bought in.”
