The Lisbon High School Dance Team held their annual showcase Saturday, March 7, in the Lion’s Den.
When the showcase started at 7:00 on Saturday night, what the audience didn’t see was that the dancers had been preparing all day. During the day on Saturday, prior to the showcase, the Lisbon Dance Team spent their time rehearsing.
While the team did rehearse their regular routines, the girls also spent time rehearsing for the Dad’s Mash-Up dance and their co-ed dance. The girls also spent time hosting a clinic for kids from AK through middle school to learn from members of the high school team.
The night started off with the dance team performing their state kick routine to “Oops! I Did It Again” that received fourth place at the state competition in early December.
Previously, the kick routine had left out three dancers: juniors Holley Dighton and Jenna Ries, as well as freshman Eliza Moehlman.
Following the performance of their state kick routine was a performance by AK and kindergarten students. The group performed a dance to “Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from “The Lion King.”
AK and kindergarten performers included Maeve Blood, Dorothy Blythe, Ruth Carlson, Kohyn Carstensen, Arlee Cox, Amara Genkinger, Juniper Holub, Leni Kleinmeyer, Leah Kohl, Wylde Mason, Connelly Olsen, Agnes Poduska, Gracie Poduska, Violet Sweet, Maisie Williams, Evie Johanns, Walker Weber, Gillious Weber and Colin Geis.
Sophomore Joey Watson performed her state solo to “Get Down” from “Six the Musical.”
Directly after Watson’s solo was freshman Baylor Boots’ solo to “Rescue You” by Lauren Daigle.
The first-grade clinic dancers danced to the song “Confident” by Demi Lovato.
First grade performers included Everly Coppess, Jolee Donaldson, Hazel Greiner, Josephine Halemeyer, Laurel Johanns, Emma McKendree, Macy Montgomery, Melilla Phillips, Barrett Raper, Magda Sanchez, Sara Wayson and Aurora Zerbe.
The Lisbon Dance Team took the stage again to perform their homecoming halftime performance.
Second and third graders danced to “Lush Life” by Zara Larsson.
Second grade performers included Ava Blinks, Hannah Carlson, Adeline Hinrichsen, Layla Kleinmeyer, Ellie Kobliska, Kinley Leighty, Hanna Macke, Susie Pisarik, Emelia Richey, Hollis Ripke, and Laiken Wieseler.
Third grade performers included Felicity Frost, Coralee Hurla, Fiona Raper, Emma Scheil, Haven Thies, Hazel Wendler, and Paislee Worby.
After the second and third graders, it was the dads’ time to shine. The Lisbon Dance Team came out with their dads for their father-daughter dance, the Dad’s Mash-Up. Senior dads got to choose their favorite songs, like “Lose Yourself” by Eminem, “Love Shack” by the B-52s, and others, and coaches Amy Geis and Bailey Hill choreographed a dance.
After their performance, the girls returned to do their Fergie hip hop routine.
The fourth and fifth graders danced to “Timber” by Pitbull and Kesha.
Fourth and fifth grade performers included Kira Ferguson, Dottie Walthart, Elsie Broulik, Leihana Mayhew, Amelia Swanson, Lauren Silver, Mia Mayhew, Hannah Neese, and Aaliyah Sutton.
Junior Ava Mollenhauer performed her state solo to “Black Car” by Leon Else.
Seniors Kaitlyn Silver and Lynnlee Caspers performed a “throwback duet.” The pair had originally done the duet in sixth grade and decided to bring it back for their final dance showcase of their high school careers.
After the “throwback duet,” senior Britton Mason took over, performing Lisbon’s last state solo to “Black Friday” by Tom Odell.
The middle school group performed after Mason’s solo. The group danced to “SOS” by Rihanna. Middle school performers included Amy Macke, Allie Patterson, Lydia Sanchez, Aubrey Sporrer, Heidi Von Behren, Wrenlie Bixler, Lillian Kobliska, and Ella Macke.
Bringing back a highly anticipated classic, the Lisbon Dance Team welcomed their co-ed partners to the floor.
