The Mount Vernon community recently lost two unsung leaders. In the course of one recent week, longtime school board members Kay Graber and Sharon Hill passed away. They were part of a group of women leaders that were invaluable in shaping the school district and our community. I would characterize them as being calm, measured, and wise in their decision making. They were good representatives of the community at large and led by example from the 1980’s ‘90’s and beyond. They, along with business manager John Wilch, mentored me. Kay, Sharon and others were the model for a long line of women leaders in Mount Vernon. A grateful community mourns their loss.
