Lisbon High School hosted their annual Roarin’ Jazz Night Friday, Feb. 13, in the Lisbon Community School District auditorium.
Kicking off the night was the Lisbon Junior High Jazz Band directed by Lisbon band director Joseph Arch. Arch led the band in playing “Hometown” by Annie Booth and “Groovin’ Kat” by Victor Lopez.

Then, the High School Jazz Lab, also directed by Arch took the stage for “A Blues to Blow On” and “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy,” with both pieces providing solos by Caiden Bosenberg, Caroline Morris, and Ryan Winders.
An intermission to encourage purchases at the bake sale and bids on silent auctions was held.
After the intermission, audiences were treated to the seventh and eighth grade choir performances of “Dare to Dream” as well as “Papa Oom Mow Mow.” Soloists included Hayden Davis, Ty Hofmeister, Rosalie Kleinmeyer, and Brant Von Behren.
Then, variety acts took the stage.
Solo performances during the variety act portion of the show included Joey Watson singing “Landslide” by Stevie Nicks with Arch accompanying her on the guitar; Ava Mollenhauer on clarinet, playing “Over the Rainbow” with Brody Speidel accompanying her on snare brushes; a Zhou Xuan piece performed as a flute solo by Caroline Morris; a piano solo of “Je te laisserai des mots” by Patrick Watson, performed by Alina Mallie; and Sawyer Feldman playing guitar and singing “I Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty, also accompanied by Arch on the guitar.
The variety acts included more than just solos, however. There were two duets, one being a vocal duet by Gracie Cummings and Joey Watson of “For Good” from the film Wicked, and a saxophone duet by Caiden Bosenberg and Matt Reed of “Carol of the Bells” based on Pentatonix and Lindsey Stirling.
Alongside duets were ensemble performances, including the “Special” Ensemble performing “Trickle Trickle” with a vocal solo by Bryce Boots and Brody Speidel on the tambourine.

Larger ensembles performed to close out the variety acts for the night, including a high school women’s choir singing “What Was I Made For,” and a seventh-through-12th men’s chorus singing “We’re the Men” by Jay Althouse.
Once the variety acts had finished up, the Lisbon High School Choir took the stage to sing “It’s All Right” and “Canon!” with solos by Bryce Boots, Gracie Cummings, James Hansen, Caroline Morris, and Joey Watson; as well as “I am Light.”
Another intermission took place to conclude the silent auction bidding.
