The Mustangs got just two wins — pins from Camden Meyer (126) and top-ranked Mikey Ryan (157), plus a forfeit at 285 pounds.
No. 5 Independence then beat Wilton, 35-33, to earn a spot at the Class 2A State duals. The Independence Mustangs ended up in fourth place Saturday at Xtream Arena.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont won the 2A title over Decorah.
