Mount Vernon girls’ basketball had a single-game week, and made the most of it, beating No. 14 Center Point-Urbana 67-52 on Friday, Jan. 30.
It was the Courtney Franck does-it-all game, as the senior finished with eight points, 11 rebounds, nine assists, five steals and five blocked shots.
“Her stat was just pretty on par for what she does every game, but just more,” Mount Vernon coach Jacob Misener said. “It was almost too good to ignore.”
Savanna Wright led the team with 20 points, Quinn Pershing had 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and Taylor Franck added 10 points.
“I think that’s the formula for success,” Misener said of the scoring balance the Courtney’s all-around game. “It makes us really tough to beat if we can have all five starters close to double figures.”
It was a one-game week because West Delaware doesn’t have a varsity team. The Mustangs (16-2, 11-0) will try and wrap up the WaMaC East outright with games against Independence at home Tuesday, Feb. 3, and at Marion on Friday, Feb. 6.
