Mount Vernon School Board and Lisbon School Board have set February’s school board meetings as the public hearing for the proposed school calendars.
Mount Vernon’s public hearing will be Monday, Feb. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Mount Vernon High School Library.
Superintendent Matt Leeman said a draft of the calendar will be shared to the community before the public hearing to allow for review and providing feedback at the public hearing.
Lisbon’s public hearing will be Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. at the Lisbon Pride room.
Superintendent Autumn Pino said that the proposed calendar for the district will have minimal changes to this year’s calendar.
“There’s nothing earth shattering about it,” Pino said. “This calendar will have fewer floating days for staff than this year’s calendar, and that’s just because of how the calendar lined up overall. This is just one of the years where everything seems to have fallen into place.”
Holiday break for the school will run from Dec. 23 through Jan. 4.
Memorial Day will also be much later in 2027, which impacts where snow days may be held if they are added to the end of the school year.
Pino said the current calendar draft was presented to district leadership and some teacher groups for feedback, with minimal areas that needed to be addressed. The calendar will be presented at February’s meeting following the public hearing, with the hopes to have the calendar finalized at March’s meeting.
