Mount Vernon City Council approved a bid for work on a water tower rehabilitation project.
The project does not cover the cost of the actual painting of the water tower, but covers the mobilization work for the project.
The painting of the towers will require multiple cell phone towers that are on top of the water tower to be relocated during the project, which is what the mobilization work covers.
“We’re hoping to get everyone on board so we’re not in a position where one provider is holding the entire project up,” said Tim Wilson with Dixon Engineering.
The contract is $15,125 for Dixon Engineering.
The water tower was last repainted in 2013.
Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department begins work on THRIVE grant
The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department begins their work on an Iowa THRIVE grant.
The department received a $200,000 grant from the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act.
The Iowa THRIVE resiliency program is a two-year program, focused on strengthening the mental health and resilience of Iowa’s first responders and their families.
The program will be conducted in partnership with the Worldmaker Resilience Institute and will provide trauma-informed training and digital tools tailored to needs of first responders.
Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police chief Jason Blinks said that the training’s main point of contact is Mollie Marti, a long time resident in the Mount Vernon community. Former chief Doug Shannon also is involved as part of that as well.
This amounts to $16,715 of that grant the department received, and the beginning of the two year training resources.
