Lisbon’s Project 60 meal was served at Lisbon Schools Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Student Senate sponsor J’Nee Reade siad they had 173 registered for the meal, but it looked like roughly 20 of those reservations did not show for the day.
A total of 59 students were involved in Student Senate and helping at the meal Tuesday.
“It’s really nice to see the interaction the students have with these elderly people in our community,” Schaefer Krie said. “It’s also nice to see so many of the Student Senate members dressing up for the event as well.”
“I love the interaction these students have with the elderly in the community as well,” Reade said. “This meal always helps them to develop good life skills.”
Music was provided by small groups of musicians, the Lisbon High School Choir, Lisbon High School Band and Lisbon Elementary students during the day.
The meal this year consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, applesauce, dinner rolls and a selection of desserts provided by students or area businesses.
Students were responsible for pouring beverages and keeping them filled throughout the meal, as well as taking orders and returning them to the tables.
“I really love that we’re able to help people out,” Ryder said.
“It’s just great to be able to help our community out and bring them together for a meal,” Chase McFarlane said.
“Talking to the elderly who attend is my favorite part of Project 60,” said Ava. “They have such good stories to share.”
“I love dressing up and helping for this event,” Lohgan Andersen said.
