Lion’s Club

The Mount Vernon Lions Club met Monday, Nov. 24, at the Stewart Baxter community room. Jeff Schwiebert introduced the speaker for the evening, Matt Leeman the superintendent of the Mount Vernon Community School District. Mr. Leeman gave a brief overview of his background and how his journey landed him in Mount Vernon. He also touched on many topics of importance to the school district including open enrollment, student demographics, current building projects and the impact of legislative changes on Iowa schools.

The next Lions club meeting will be the Christmas Party Dec. 22 at Gwen’s in Lisbon.
