Emma Dietsch led the way for Lisbon at the Sigourney-Keota Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
Dietsch won the title at 145 pounds, pinning her way through the bracket including sixth-ranked Cheyenne Dike of East Union in the finals.
“She was voted the outstanding wrestler of the tournament,” Lisbon coach Seth Hall said.
Alina Mallie (140) placed fourth, and Grace Gadberry (110) and Kaylee Jordan (155) were sixth at the 23-team event.
“The team came out and wrestled really well,” Hall said. “They got after it. It was fun to watch.”
The event also went late, with Dietsch’s match starting after 11 p.m. The bus pulled into the Lisbon parking lot about 12:45 a.m., according to Hall.
Hall wanted to recognize senior Abby Bock, in her first wrestling action, got two pins and finished second in a JV bracket at 135 pounds.
“It is a sport that is hard to get into as a senior, and she got two pins,” Hall said.
The Lions then competed at the two-day Independence Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21 and 22. Every Lion picked up at least one win at the massive event.
“There were 38 teams and over 400 girls,” Hall said. “We got good quality matches across the board.”
Freshman Grace Gadberry (110) and Dietsch each finished in 12th.
