Learn with the League event Dec. 3
The Mount Vernon/Lisbon unit of the League of Women Voters in Linn County and the Cornell College politics department are hosting a “Learn with the League” Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
The event will feature Becca Eastwood, advocacy campaign manager, with the Iowa ACLU, speaking on “How to build a relationship with your elected officials.”
The event will be held at Cornell College – The Richard & Norma Small Athletic and Wellness Center, 835 W First St, Mount Vernon.

Late Night at the LBC
Calling all middle schoolers, fifth through eighth grade, this night is for you. Come to the Lester Buresh Family Community Wellness Center Friday, Dec. 5, from 9:30-11:30 p.m. Hang out with friends after hours at the LBC. Activities include basketball, volleyball, pickleball, I wall & t-wall, and rock climbing. Also, video games, VR, 9 square in the air, lawn games, group karaoke and more. Pizza and concessions will be available for purchase. $5 admission for everyone, regardless of membership.
Project 60
Sign up now for Project 60 at Lisbon Schools. RSVP deadline is Dec. 2 and call 319-455-2106 to register. Doors for the event open at 10:45 a.m., with the festivities beginning at 11 a.m. A hot meal served by Lisbon Student Council representatives, music from Lisbon band, choir and elementary musicians and more. Bingo games start after noon.
ButterBraid sales
Lisbon Business Professionals of America is now hosting their annual fundraiser of butter braids! From now until Dec. 11, students are raising money to help with expenses for going to the State Leadership Conference in February and for students going to Nationals in May. These will be delivered to the student you chose on Dec. 22, just in time for the holidays.
