Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre (MVLCT) is thrilled to conclude its 45th anniversary season with the festive and hilarious family production Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins, adapted by Michael Dailey and directed by Uri Lessing, based on the beloved book by Eric Kimmel. Performances will take place November 14-15 & 21-22 at 7:30PM and November 16 at 2PM at the First Street Community Center Uptown Theatre.
In this magical and humorous tale, Hershel of Ostropol arrives in a village where goblins have taken over the synagogue and frightened away the townspeople, preventing them from celebrating Hanukkah. With courage, cleverness, and a good dose of humor, Hershel must outwit the goblins one by one to bring back the light and joy of the holiday.
Filled with laughter, adventure, and heart, Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins celebrates the triumph of good over mischief and the enduring spirit of Hanukkah. Perfect for audiences of all ages, the production offers a warm and spirited way to welcome the holiday season.
“This isn’t your bubbe’s Hanukkah show, unless your bubbe loved Monty Python, Mel Brooks, and a good pratfall,” said Director Uri Lessing. “Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins is a laugh-out-loud, family-friendly romp inspired by the Yiddish theatre. Audience participation? Absolutely. Every show a little different? You bet. Come celebrate light, laughter, and a few very confused goblins.”
