Last week Mount Vernon senior Cali Whitaker gave her commitment to run track for South Dakota.

Whitaker, who placed second in the 200, third in the 400 in 3A at the 2025 State Meet, like the campus in Vermillion, S.D.

“I loved the campus and I loved the coaches,” Whitaker said. “They talked about how they believed in me and have a plan for success for me.”

The Coyotes finished runner-up in the 2025 Summit League Outdoor Championships.
