Editor’s note – This write-in candidate released information this past week in running for a write-in seat on the Lisbon City Council.
Christopher Funk
Lisbon City Council write-in candidate
My name is Christopher Funk, and I’m running as a write-in candidate for Lisbon’s City Council. I turn 18 just two days before Election Day, and while I may be young, I’m stepping up because I believe local government is where real change begins.
There are three council seats open this year—but only two names on the ballot. I’m offering myself to fill the third seat because I care deeply about our town and want to contribute. My family and I are newly returned to the area, but we’re here because we value community, tradition, and the kind of neighborly spirit that makes small towns special.
I graduated high school at 15 with a 3.96 GPA. I’ve volunteered through Boy Scouts, helped run events, served and worked at my church, and generally learned how to serve others. I believe in listening first, working together, and making thoughtful decisions—especially when it comes to budgeting, infrastructure, and supporting local businesses.
If elected, I’ll work hard, ask good questions, and collaborate with current council members and community leaders to make sure our town continues to thrive. One of the main things I’d like to bring to the table, if elected to City Council, is consistent communication between citizens and council members. I’d like to foster a real connection between my fellow Lisbon residents and city council. As representatives and part of the legislative branch of local government, it is important that we stay up-to-date on the wishes of citizens.
As someone who enjoys being active, I’d love to keep our general infrastructure, that being roads and sidewalks, safe and maintained through cost-effective methods. Furthermore, I’m not just a kid out of high school seeking political office, I’ve worked in the labor force. I know how hard it is, especially now more than ever, to get a job and a sustainable one at that. Because of this, I also want to try and ensure Lisbon is a place where small businesses can thrive and remain stable. It’d be wonderful to try and get more jobs and economic growth brought directly to Lisbon, like when Fareway opened up right by the highway.
If you’re voting this year, please consider writing Christopher Funk under “Council at Large Lisbon” and fill in the oval next to my name. I’d be honored to have one of your three votes be cast in support of me. I’m ready to listen, ready to serve, and ready to be your representative.
