MOUNT VERNON — During the Oct. 14 Mount Vernon School Board meeting, superintendent Matthew Leeman announced the return of a program aimed at strengthening student-administrator communication.
The program, called Lunch with Leaders, creates a space for middle and high school students to sit down with district leaders, ask questions, and share ideas about what’s happening in their schools.
Leeman said the goal is to open a two-way conversation between students and decision-makers.
“Kids want to be involved, so this is a nice way to talk to them about what we are doing in school and get their take on it,” he said.
Interest in the program has been strong — 93 students signed up through a QR code on the promotional flyers, including 77 middle schoolers and 16 high schoolers.
Lunch with Leaders, which first launched last year, gives students the opportunity to meet directly with administrators in an informal setting.
