A freewill donation soup benefit and silent auction is planned for Brodi Brokaw in Mechanicsville Elementary School Saturday, Nov. 8, from 3-7 p.m.
Bodi was diagnosed with liver cancer Aug. 20 at four months old, and was admitted to the PICU at the University of Iowa Children’s hospital. Bodi’s official diagnosis is malignant rhabdoid tumor of the liver, which is a very fast growing and fast spreading cancer that is very difficult to treat. His treatment will consist of 31 cycles of chemo, which will be about nine months, surgery and radiation to follow.
Bodi is the youngest of five children. Bodi’s mother, Jenna Brokaw, is not able to work for a significant length of time due to Bodi’s treatment. Bodi’s grandparents, Les and Larklyn Brokaw, have been caring for Bodi’s siblings.
Funds raised will go towards living and medical expenses. Cash donations are also greatly appreciated, and may be gifted directly to the fund set up “For the Benefit of Bodi Brokaw” at Bridge Community Bank.
