Mount Vernon and Lisbon celebrated their homecomings this week,, including crowning homecoming kings and queens.
For Mount Vernon, Landon Wilson was king and Grace Hale queen, coronated at the pep rally ahead of the annual powderpuff football game. (see page 18 for more on the game).
The Mustangs also stomped over the Center Point Urbana Pointers 34-14 in Friday’s game. Mount Vernon volleyball won against Independence in three matches Tuesday, Sept. 30 and picked up three wins at a tournament at Western Dubuque High School Saturday, Oct. 4. The cross country teams also placed high in meets Tuesday, Sept. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 4.
Lisbon’s king was Baylor Speidel and queen was Kaitlyn Silver.
For Lisbon, the Lions volleyball team had a smashing week, taking wins against Marquette Catholic and Prince of Peace Tuesday , Sept. 30, and Thursday, Oct. 2, and then additional wins against Marquette Catholic, Prince of Peace and Camanche at a tournament at Northeast Middle School Saturday, Oct. 4. The team had one loss to Wilton. The powderpuff game was also held Wednesday, Oct. 1 (see page 19 for the recap of the game).
The football team kept away from a shutout loss to Northeast, with a 34-21 loss.
