The Lisbon Public Library and Cole Public Library held their second farm story time at Rhubarb Botanicals farm in rural Mount Vernon Saturday, Oct. 4.
Librarians Grace Chamberlain Rowray and Meredith Nehring read a selection of children’s books to those in attendance, while Balderdash Ditty performed a handful of songs.
Nehring’s book choice was “Nell Plants a Tree.”
Before the storytime began, she asked those in attendance if they could define “harvest.”
Answers included picking things up off the ground or picking things from trees.
One boy said excitedly harvest was the time he got to ride in the combine in the fields.
Chamberlain Rowray read from “Ask Me.”
The final book the duo read together was “Apple Cake,” which included a recipe for apple cake in the back of the book.
Youth were then able to sample apples and pears at the farm shop and get popcorn to feed the chickens on the farm.
