Candidate filing period for the Nov. 4 election is approaching. With a deadline of today (Thursday, Sept. 18) at 5 p.m. to get names added to the ballot.

The following contests currently do not have enough candidates to fill all elected official seats:

• Center Point City Council (2)

• Central City City Council (2)

• Coggon City Council (2)

• Ely City Council (2)

• Fairfax Mayor

• Fairfax City Council (2)

• Lisbon City Council (3)

• Marion City Council Member Ward 2

• Mt. Vernon City Council (1)

• Palo City Council (3)

• Prairieburg City Council (1)

• Robins Mayor

• Robins City Council (1)

Anyone interested in open school board seats should contact the school district in which they reside regarding open school board seats. School board candidate paperwork must be filed with the appropriate school secretary.

City candidate paperwork must be filed with the Linn County Auditor’s Office, located at 935 Second St. SW, Cedar Rapids.

Candidates may file their papers no later than Thursday, September 18 at 5 p.m.
