This year is an election year for school board across the state of Iowa. The Mount Vernon Community School District will have three seats up for election on Nov. 4. Lisbon Community Schools will have two seats open for the same election.

Nominations for open seats can be filed between Aug. 25 and Sept. 18.

Nomination papers for Mount Vernon school board seats are available online on the district website, or physical copies may be picked up in the district office at 525 Palisades Rd SW.

Nomination papers for Lisbon School board seats can be picked up at the district office at 235 W. School Street in Lisbon.

School board candidates must obtain at least 50 signatures of district residents to secure a spot on the ballot.
