Mount Vernon City Council also approved third and final readings for three ordinances.
The first was an annual increase to the sewer rates for the City of Mount Vernon. No written or additional comments were made in reference to the ordinance.
The second was an ordinance setting fees for non-compliant water meters, allowing the city to assess an additional $50 compliance fee for meters that are not radio water meter reads to offset the cost for doing so. That only impacts roughly 30 households currently not on these new meters.
The third was the resource recovery and refuse disposal ordinance, which sets times when garbage and recycling canisters are to be at the curb and when they are to be back at someone’s house. Violators will face a municipal infraction. No comments were made, written or public against the passage of the ordinance, and it passed unanimously. Council member Scott Rose was absent from the meeting.
