Lisbon’s Sesquicentennial Celebration begins Sunday, Aug. 10, with a community breakfast outside of Southeast Linn Community Center from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
A community church service will be held at 10 a.m. at Lisbon City Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring your own lawn chair.
At noon, an 18-hole golf tournament will be held at Kernoustie Golf Club.
Monday, Aug. 11, will see a historic portrayal of Laura Ingalls Wilder at Lisbon Library beginning at 6 p.m., with a history walk through downtown Lisbon and Hills Bank.
Tuesday, Aug. 12, the library will host a special kids story time at the gazebo in downtown Lisbon at 11 a.m.
Tuesday evening will also see a Golf Cart/UTV Poker run that will be held through Mount Vernon and Lisbon from 5-8 p.m.
Wednesday will see the Take Down Wrestling Tournament at Lisbon City Park from 5-8 p.m., and then at dusk will be the movie in the park with “Mufasa: The Lion King” presented.
Sauerkraut Days activities kick off on Thursday evening, with the free ice cream social and Celebrate Community events 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Those events this year are being held at Lisbon Parks and Rec Sports Complex. The softball tournament will also return this year, with 12 teams playing at the Lisbon City Park ball diamonds.
The evening is capped with fireworks at dusk and the teen street dance at Main Street.
Friday’s Sauerkraut Days events include the crowning of Sauerkraut King and Queen at the Kraut Main Stage at 5:45 p.m., the Lisbon Alumni Association Hall of Fame Inductees being announced at 6:15 p.m. and the Lisbon Cheerleading and wrestling labor auction. The night concludes with a street dance.
Saturday starts with the Kraut Route 5K Run/walk registration beginning at 7 a.m. at Lisbon City Park. The walk starts at 8 a.m.
A sand volleyball tournament will be held at 9 a.m. at Beau Dylan’s.
Parade lineup starts at 9:30am at intersection of North Washington and Fifth Ave. The parade route proceeds south on Washington Street to the intersection of Market Street, where the route then heads west for a block. The parade heads south down Walnut Street for a block, turning west on Main Street to Penn Street. The parade heads south down Penn Street to South Street and then east towards Lisbon Schools.
The Cabbage Head Car Show begins at 11 a.m., and the youth tractor pull begins at 11:30 a.m. Bathtub races begin at 2 p.m. outside the fire station.
Carnival rides return again, with tickets available in advance the week preceding Sauerkraut Days at City Hall or from Sauerkraut Days members at other events.
