On July 23, Eric Briesmeister, C.E.O. at Jones Regional Medical Center, spoke to a crowd of interested citizens about the potential effects of cuts in Medicaid on rural hospitals. The next gathering, sponsored by Voices United, will be held at Whitey’s Restaurant in Lisbon at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13.

The guest speaker will be Mount Vernon native Michael Bowers who has spent his career working with international relief programs. Michael will speak about the life-saving work of US-AID and the devastating results from the elimination of the program.

The program is free to the public.
