The new Lisbon Fareway store looks absolutely terrific.
A huge kudos to the City of Lisbon, Fareway and all entities who took a bad situation from back in March and turned this into something for the community to be excited about.
Over the past week, it’s been so exciting to see the parking lot at the store full again, after Brothers Market lot sat empty at times.
And the social media team selling the sizzle of the store had nothing to worry about when it comes to eventually selling the steak.
By hiring many of the former Brothers Market employees and giving them jobs at other Fareway stores in the area until this store opened, as well as offering more than 50 jobs to the community, this store is already doing a lot for the community.
We agree with Brandon Siggins view that a store like Fareway coming to a community like Lisbon is a multiplier for the communities of Mount Vernon and Lisbon as well. It’s one of those things where people look for outside of schools is the proximity to a grocery store.
And we know many shoppers will still default to Gary’s Foods themselves, because of the track record the Dietrich family has had in being involved in these communities with their efforts over the years (the editor among them), and how fitting it is for Gary’s to be recognized with an above and beyond award this year from the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group.
These communities have benefitted and will benefit from these grocery stores in our community and their focus on us as part of their families.
