The Linn County Treasurer’s Office is modernizing its customer service by launching a new appointment option for vehicle title transfers. Starting July 1, customers can schedule an appointment to transfer vehicle titles at the Linn County Treasurer’s Office. The first appointments will be available July 10, 2025. This new system will streamline the title transfer process and reduce wait times.

Full services resume Thursday, July 10, with title transfer appointments officially beginning that day.

“Title transfers can be a lengthy process,” Treasurer Brent Oleson said. “Appointments offer a more efficient and predictable experience for our customers and gives people more control over their schedule because they can choose a time that works for them. Our new system will also help ensure our customers bring the documents they need to complete the title transfer in one visit.”

Title transfer appointments can be scheduled online or by phone beginning July 1. Customers can schedule a title transfer appointment up to 30 days in advance at LinnCountyIowa.gov/Treasurer or by calling 319-892-5500. The online appointment system is available in English, Spanish, French, and Arabic.

Currently, appointments are available only for vehicle title transfers. Appointments are not available for other services in the Treasurer’s Office.

Walk-in service will continue to be available for all Treasurer’s Office services, including title transfers; however, customers with title transfer appointments will be seen at their scheduled time, and walk-in visitors without an appointment for a title transfer may experience longer wait times than if they had made an appointment.

“We expect the appointments to be a popular option,” Oleson said. “Once people realize how easy and convenient it is to make an appointment for a title transfer, we think most of our customers will prefer that option.”

The new appointment system is part of the Treasurer’s Office ongoing efforts to improve customer service.
