Anthony Horowitz is a well-known British author. In 2000, he started a very popular teen spy series Stormbreaker featuring Alex Rider. He went on to write 14 books starring Alex Rider. Stormbreaker was made into a movie and following the movie Alex Rider was made into a television series. So, when The Word is Murder came out, an adult murder mystery by Anthony Horowitz in 2017, I was a bit puzzled. Is this the same Anthony Horowitz? It is, and his murder mystery series have been as popular as his spy novels for young adults.
At Cole Library, we have just purchased his last installment in the Susan Ryeland series. The book is titled Marble Hall Murders. If Horowitz is new to you, this series begins with The Magpie Murders followed by Close to Death. PBS did a Mystery series of these two books that we also have available.
Horowitz has also written the Hawthorne & Horowitz series which features him as a character. The titles are: The Word is Murder; The Sentence is Death; A Line to Kill; The Twist of a Knife and Close to Death. These books have very similar covers to the Susan Ryeland series, so don’t get them confused.
These books should be read in order and can be put on hold if the title you need is currently checked out.
