Lauren and Carolyn Donovan helped contribute the funds for Sarah Uthoff’s program Tuesday, May 6, at Lisbon Public Library.
The sisters saw an option to support the library during the Friends of the Library fundraiser last fall.
“I really like the library, and wanted to do what I could to help,” Carolyn said.
Some of the Donovan sisters favorite activities include reading books at the library, visiting with head librarian Elizabeth Hoover de Galvez and attending the library’s special programming year-round. That has included attending the Dia de Los Muertos event at the library this past November, and summer story times.
Carolyn said it made her happy her donation helped the library line up a speaker like Sarah Uthoff to talk about Laura Ingalls Wilder’s experiences on the prairie to tie into the 150th anniversary of the community of Lisbon as well.
The Donovan sisters also use Lisbon’s Heritage Hall for some of their Girl Scouts meetings during the year. Lauren said she has been into graphic novels a lot, and the Lisbon Library has a lot of those.
Carolyn is looking forward to her upcoming 10th birthday, when she gets to drink coffee for the first time. Both call the library one of their safe spaces in the community.
Lauren is also part of the newspaper at Lisbon Schools this year.
“I’ve loved being able to ask people questions and learn about people during my interviews,” Lauren said.
