What a great return for the Lincoln Highway Arts festival to uptown Mount Vernon.
There was plenty of arts and vendors in the two blocks between First Street Community Center and Hwy. 1 to show off their artistic wares.
The live music from bands was a great draw and the whole atmosphere for the day was relaxed and chill.
We couldn’t have asked for better weather or conditions on the ground, with one of the best fall days we’ve seen thus far this year.
There were activities for children to make and take home their own artwork from the endeavor, with three different opportunities for craft, and great vendors adding to the restaurants in uptown Mount Vernon.
The only slightly off spot was the staggering of the bands and the performance of Dance Arts Iowa dancers that could have had their performance shifted to the 2:30 p.m. gap and not had two different performances vying for attention in the same space.
Like other festivals just returning after the COVID-19 pandemic/hiatus, it was nice to see the work the Mount Vernon area Arts Council and Mount Vernon Lisbon Community Development Group put into bringing this festival back.
