Despite cold temperatures and blistering winds, the “best track meet of the season” accroding to girls coach Casey Baxa returned once again this year.
“It’s a great fundraiser for the girls team, especially as we near the state track competition in the next few weeks,” Baxa said. “It also gives the youth in this community a chance to utilize the track for a track meet.”
Due to temperatures and that wind, training sessions with the girls were truncated to five minutes to learn how to best work on skills like hurdling, using starting blocks, long jump, stretching, softball throw and running.
After the sessions, the meet was held, starting with the softball throw and long jump, and then the running events — 40 meter hurdles, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash and 300 meter dash.
The racers are off in the first 100 meter dash at Lisbon Sunday, April 30.
