Camp Firelight VBS
United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon, Seeds of Faith Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church of Mount Vernon will be holding Camp Firelight Vacation Bible School July 5 through July 8 (Sunday through Wednesday).
The event will feature a family meal each night beginning at 5:15 p.m. at the UMCMV fellowship hall, and then VBS activities from 6-8 p.m.
Registration is open now for students in PreK through completed fifth grade.
Volunteers are also needed to help run the Camp (including students in sixth through 12th grades).

Mighty Fortress VBS
Saint Paul Lutheran Church will be holding Mighty Fortress Vacation Bible School July 12 through 16 from 6-8 p.m. each night. The program is open to children aged three through fifth grade students. Parents and older siblings are invited to volunteer to help run the program.
New this year will be a dinner for kids and their families each night beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Lisbon Bulky Item clean-up day
Lisbon’s Bulky item clean-up day will be Saturday, June 27, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Large items can be dropped off at the city shop (with vehicles approaching heading east on Market Street). Items accepted include sofas, mattresses, furniture, non commercial appliances (limited to two per household), windows, doors and other large bulky items that would not fit in a garbage can. The city and waste hauler reserve the right to deny articles deemed unacceptable.
Electronics can be dropped off at City Hall parking lot (vehicles are asked to enter from Washington Street and exit from the alley). Electronics collected include copy machines, fax machines, CD players, VCRs, televisions, stereos, battery back-ups, cell phones, computer equipment.
Items not accepted include radioactive materials, untreated medical waste, deposit beverage containers, any recyclable materials, pressurized tanks, construction materials, antifreeze, burn barrels and ash, and large commercial appliances.
Retirement celebration for Officer Todd Gehrke
A retirement celebration will be held for Officer Tood Gehrke Thursday, July 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department. The community is invited to honor the more than 23 years of service and commitment to the communities of Mount Vernon and Lisbon.
