Coach: Angie Knies (second season)
2025 result: 8-6-3, 6-3-2 WaMaC East
Returning letter-winners (3): Miranda Sellner, jr.; Isabelle Logue, sr.; Courtney Franck, sr.
Outlook: The Mustangs are going to need to find new ways to score after graduating a lot of their goal production.
The Mustangs said goodbye to dynamic scorer Clare Nydegger, who led the team with 10 goals and 24 points.
Senior Courtney Franck is the top goal-scorer returning with six. Junior Miranda Sellner had four and senior Isabelle Logue had two.
But Mount Vernon won a scrimmage over West Branch 7-0 on March 27, so maybe scoring won’t be an issue. Logue had three goals in the win, and Sellner had two.
“I’m excited for the new season and focusing on getting one percent better every day,” coach Angie Knies said. “Control the controllable and keep the main thing the main thing — what we do best, keeping the ball, pressing quick when we lost it, and staying true to our team values.”
Mount Vernon has some promising newcomers. Ninth-grader Alaina Sellner scored a goal in the scrimmage. Senior Adeline Whisner should be helpful in the midfield and defense, and junior Timber Scholl is returning from injury and can play forward or midfield.
The Mustangs will need a new goalie, as well. Senior Aubrey Ford returns after limited action as the back-up a year ago. Junior Mavrik Schweer and sophomore Josie Panos are also listed as a GK.
