Mount Vernon Lisbon Community Theatre (MVLCT), is excited to continue its 2026 season with a special event: The Stuff We Keep by various authors in the Mount Vernon-Lisbon and Corridor area. Performances will take place April 10-11 at 7:30 p.m. and April 12 at 2 p.m. at the First Street Community Center Uptown Theatre in Mount Vernon.
The Stuff We Keep is a collection of monologues about the things we can’t get rid of… and why.
Featuring original work by Mary Horst, Joe Jennison, Erin Lauer, Monica Leo, and Amy White—with Mary Horst, Monica Leo, and Amy White also stepping onstage—alongside actors Carrie Pozdol, David Morton, and Meredith Nehring.
Amy White says, “Why do we hang on to things from our past? What gives these objects so much importance that we keep them through all our breakups, moves, life stages? Does everyone have stuff like this?
This is the theme we explored in our newly formed writers group for a year. Even though each of us write in different styles and genres, we pulled from our shared theatre background and experience to focus on monologues intended for performance. Even though some of us had been in writers groups before, this was something new. And it turns out we all have plenty of stuff.
Some experts recommend taking a picture of your precious objects. We decided to write about them instead. It was a great way to get to know each other better while practicing our craft and we hope to inspire audience members to think of their own “stuff” stories!”
This is an event you do not want to miss. Tickets are $15 and you can purchase them online or at the door.
