The Washington Elementary fourth grade choir and the fourth and fifth grade orchestras performed a Music and Masterpieces concert Thursday, Dec. 18.
The concert was originally planned for Thursday, Dec. 11, but was postponed due to inclement weather. Both choral director Sophie Walker and orchestra conductor Tabitha Rasmussen explained that these students had not had additional practices in the PAC before that concert.
The choir played xylophones for “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” sang “A Silly Winter Song,” “Be the Change,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” The choir also sang “Santa Claus Llego A La Cuidad.”
The fourth grade orchestra showed off the skills they learned in the first semester of lessons. Songs played included “Up Like a Rocket,” “Ant Song,” “Monkey Song,” “Hot Cross Buns,” “Mary Had a Little Lamb” and “Jingle Bells.” On Jingle Bells, the orchestra went with finger plucking their instruments.
Fifth grade orchestra performed “Brandenberg Concerto,” “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas,” and “We Will Rock You.”
