The Mount Vernon High School will hold a dress rehearsal production of “The Wolves” Friday, June 20 at 7 p.m. in the Mount Vernon Performing Arts Center before heading out to perform at the International Thespian Festival.
This performance contains strong language and adult themes.
From Concord Theatricals: Left quad. Right quad. Lunge. A girls indoor soccer team warms up. From the safety of their suburban stretch circle, the team navigates big questions and wages tiny battles with all the vim and vigor of a pack of adolescent warriors. A portrait of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for nine American girls who just want to score some goals.
Last September Mount Vernon performed a full-length production of “The Wolves” by Sarah DeLappe. In November, the cast presented a 45-minute cutting at the Iowa Thespian Festival as part of the studio show competition. The production earned 70 points (out of a possible 72) and was named the Iowa Chapter Select winner.
Each year, International Thespian Society chapters across the country carefully evaluate an array of one-act plays, ultimately selecting an outstanding production to showcase at the International Thespian Festival (ITF). This year, ITF will welcome 26 shows (including Mount Vernon’s presentation of “The Wolves”) to be performed for thousands of Thespians and theatre educators.
ITF celebrates outstanding student work and elevates the teachers who create those opportunities to learn and excel. ITF showcases dozens of student performances, including full-length main stage productions and one-acts, on a national stage.
ITF 2025 will take place June 22 through June 27, 2025 at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
