Temperatures may have been frigid Thanksgiving Thursday, but that didn’t stop more than 80 people from participating in the 14th Annual Turkey Trot in Mount Vernon. Organizers Jackie and Andy Morrical reported that a total of $2,380 was raised for Southeast Linn Community Center this year by participants in the event.
“It is probably not a record for amount raised, as there have been some years where there was competitive fundraising going on in the past, but it still benefits SELCC,” Andy said.
Fastest times were right in the 20 minute range for the fastest competitors, Ben Morrical and Mandy Morrical. It was the camaraderie that others had catching up with people in the area, either home from college or visiting family before and after the race.
