The City of Lisbon approved repairs to the Lisbon Public Library roof.
City administrator Brandon Siggins said that library director Elizabeth Hoover de Galvez had found additional wet marks on the ceiling of the building in the past month.
“We had a flat roof company who was able to come and take a look at the roof membrane,” Siggins said. “There was a crack in the roof membrane they discovered that the wind had peeled further.”
Poly-Vinyl Roofing gave a quote for $11,667 to stretch the current membrane and patch the roof, a temporary fix for the flat roof.
Poly-Vinyl Roofing also gave a $23,667 total to replace the current membrane of the roof and replace the interior insulation.
“I’m really pleased with that bid,” Siggins said.
Poly-Vinyl Roofing can not get to the work on the roof until mid December.
Siggins said that the roof repair is not in the budget currently, which means the city will need to amend the budget for the additional costs for the repairs.
“There is money in the Lisbon Library for repairs to the west wall that can be used for a portion of the repairs, but we still need to find an additional $12,000 from other budgets,” Siggins said.
Mayor Doug O’Connor said it was worth the additional $12,000 for an entire new roof and the 15-year warranty that would come with a new membrane and replacing the interior insulation for the project.
Council member Kevin Steele asked how old the roof is that is there. Council member John Bardsley said it was roughly 15 years ago the last repairs were made.
