During the final full day of school at Lisbon, students in fourth through sixth grade presented a final concert and variety show combination concert in Lisbon Auditorium.
Fourth grade started the concert with a welcome song from West Africa (“Funga Alafia”) and then a selection of recorder songs – Hot Cross Buns, Gently Sleep, Merrily We Roll.
The Black Belt recorder quartet of Eli Boesenberg, Lydia Sanchez, Evan Helgerson, and Bryce Siggins performed Ode to Joy and the fourth graders closed with one of Tori Glanzer’s favorite songs for recorders – “Eye of the Tiger.”
Fifth grade started with “Here Comes the Sun” by George Harrison then “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars before concluding with a presentation of “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood.
A number of variety acts performed from the sixth grade during the event. Glanzer said there were two acts who were not comfortable with performing the day of the show, but all other acts went on as planned.
From solving Rubik’s cubes, to a magic show that played strongly on comedy, to flute solos and vocal solos, students showed off their talents on stage. The performance of “Baby Shark” and “Counting Stars” even got audience involvement with the elementary grades providing clapping accompaniment.
“It’s not easy performing solo on stage,” Glanzer said.
The event concluded with the sixth grade chorus performing Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” and Dolly Parton’s “Nine to Five.”
