Mount Vernon topped Solon, 1-0, in the freezing rain and snow Tuesday, April 2, at Spartan Stadium.
Luke Stephens scored the only goal, assisted by Matthew Mayhew.
“We were just trying to find a way to play some good footie with the weather,” Mount Vernon coach Nathan Grosse said. “Luke just found the ball at his feet at the top of the 18, and got a nice shot on frame.”
Uwen Boettcher recorded the shutout with nine saves.
Then the Mustangs (2-1) lost their first match of the season, falling 1-0 at Benton Community on Friday, April 5.
Caleb Gessner scored the only goal of the match for the Bobcats.
