The City of Lisbon approved city crews should do the storm sewer and water main work at the baseball fields located at the new sports complex.
City administrator Brandon Siggins said the cost estimate for the project, which includes all the parts, is $335,435. That’s roughly a $200,000 savings instead of having a contractor work on the project.
Public works director Travis Bagby said he would want to rent a larger excavator to help on the project, but initial costs for supplies would amount to $111,142.
“Just time wise, having a larger excavator means that we can condense the work into three weeks as opposed to taking two months to complete,” Bagby said.
The plan would be to start on the work by the end of March/early April, weather permitting, and conclude the work in three weeks time. Bagby said the hope is to have the work completed by the end of April.
The project will take three city workers to complete per day.
“This appears to indicate a significant amount of savings for this work,” said council member Nathan Smith.

The City of Lisbon has approved a contract extension with Jordan’s Property Care for work at the Lisbon cemetery for the next five years.
The contract locks in fertilization application at a number of locations at the city for a bill of $915 annually, as well as a mowing contract of roughly $4,095 for cemetery mowing. That includes application of fertilizer, spraying for noxious weeds and grub control.
