Beginning April 1, yard waste will only be accepted at the Solid Waste Agency compost location, 2250 A Street SW, Cedar Rapids. This is where yard waste, food waste, tree debris and other organic materials are processed into compost or wood chips.
Since the Solid Waste Agency cannot process yard waste at 1954 County Home Road, Marion, where the landfill and Resource Recovery building are located, the Agency is eliminating the collection of yard waste at this facility.
Most communities in Linn County offer yard waste collection or operate a yard waste drop-off area for resident use. Click here for a link to yard waste drop-off options by community. Check with the local city hall for more details and information.
Organics are accepted for $28.00 per ton.
Agency staff are preparing screened compost for distribution later this spring. When ready, compost is available for no charge to Linn County residents. The Agency’s compost page will be updated when screened compost is available for pick-up: https://www.solidwasteagency.org/compost-yard-waste
