The Roger Teeling Walk-A-Thon fundraiser for Lisbon will be Friday, May 10.
Elementary principal Justin Brown said that this year’s funds will be pooled with the funds collected last year and targeting a few playground improvements.
One of those improvements is installing a gaga ball pit and two tetherball courts, as well as getting a new scoreboard for the kickball court.
Lisbon art teacher Keri Speidel has also volunteered to paint a four-square court for students at Lisbon on the concrete playgrounds.
Brown said the concrete work alone will be close to the profits raised in 2023, and he wanted to pair that with donations raised this year for the additional improvements.
Gaga ball is a friendlier version of dodgeball, and allows eight kids to play at a time. The court will be ADA accessible and installed over new concrete pad. The additional concrete may help with some of the issues at the playground.
This year’s Walk-a-thon will feature a camo background t-shirt and art designed by Speidel for the shirt as well. Kona Ice will once again be at the event, and students will take part in the walks around the track during their specials times in school. The community is invited as well to participate in some laps around the track.
